I am a therapist who sees the whole person within the context of their developmental and life experiences.
My name is Dr. Asli Baz, I am a clinical psychologist licensed by the State of Minnesota (Lic: 6737) and I offer psychological services such as psychotherapy, consultations, and crisis intervention. I have taught university courses in various psychological areas (e.g., Brain & Behavior, Psychology of Aging, Health Disparities). I work with individuals and couples from diverse cultural backgrounds. I was born and raised in Germany as the child of Turkish immigrants and have lived and worked in Canada, the US, and the UK. I have experience being an expat and understand the immigrant experience as well as generational patterns as they relate to identity formation.
In my training I focused on forensic psychology as well as multicultural competence, and I have worked with individuals across different cultural backgrounds and in various countries. Previous work settings include Community Mental Health Centers, Inpatient Psychiatric Settings as well as Juvenile Detentions and Private Practices. I have training in testing and assessment of various forensic concerns (custody, criminal evaluation, severe and persistent mental illness).
My therapeutic style can be described as primarily psychodynamic and existential, but I also like to utilize cognitive behavioral approaches whenever needed. I am an active and non-judgmental therapist who sees the whole person within the context of their developmental and life experiences.
