I believe the therapeutic relationship is an opportunity to create change in your life, from observing others and myself.

I am an Art therapist/counselor intern at Therapy in Reality. I am currently a full-time student in in my final year of my master’s in counseling and art therapy at Penn West University (formerly Edinboro University) Pennsylvania.

I believe the therapeutic relationship is an opportunity to create change in your life, from observing others and myself. Through the use of art therapy directives and gentle guidance we can build a trusting relationship that works towards healing.

I am interested in helping people of all walks of life and applying cultural sensitivity to my practice.

My desire to help people through the use of art in therapy has always interested me. I look forward to becoming certified with my ATR and recognized by the AATA (American art therapy association.) I will also be pursuing my LTCB through supervision after graduating.

I have taught Art for 18 years around the US and in Okinawa and have my master’s in education (MED) and my Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) with a concentration in photography and minor in psychology. The experience of teaching art to all ages have helped prepare me for my role as a therapist and I am well versed in a variety of different media.

What is ART THERAPY?

Art therapy is the use of integrative methods to engage the mind, body and spirit in ways that are distinct from verbal communication. A client will have the opportunity to express themselves through sensory, kinesthetic, perceptual and symbolic means. The visual and symbolic expression gives a voice to an experience and can help empower a person to transform.
